This is Bimini with respect to Florida.

These are Bimini Islands. We were tied up in North Bimini, about where the "F Red" star is on the chart.

These are Bimini Islands. We were tied up in Alicetown, North Bimini, about where the “F Red” star is on the chart.

It was our first stop after the hyped up Gulf Stream crossing and it was perfect. The people were friendly, there was stuff to do, and the view was breathtaking. The Bimini Islands are the closest Bahamian Islands to Florida. Precisely why we chose it as our first stop! We stayed at Blue Water Marina in Alice Town, North Bimini. Alice Town has one road that takes you through the town. One road. It’s also the road you walk on to get to stuff. Restaraunts, conch shacks, bars, a couple of resorts, Taste of Heaven Bakery, the grocery store, post office, immigration & customs, and the water ferry to South Bimini. It’s all on King’s Highway.

We had a great time in Bimini and it was sad to leave, but we can only hope that Bimini was just the beginning. Oh, and if you are in the Florida area and want to visit Bimini, check out this place. They do day trips to Bimini for like, 70 bucks.

At No Name Harbor JR and I discovered that our foredeck light was out. Wade from Adamant helped hoist him up to change the light. This is how you change a light bulb on a boat! Geez!

Conch shells are plentiful in Bimini!

If you eat conch from one of the conch shacks, chances are there will be a big ol’ pile of conch shells near by. These were just a few in the heaping pile.

And here’s me, clearly impressed with the giant pile of conch shells.

We ordered conch salad from Stuart’s. Although it looks super tasty, and the tomato, onion, lime mixture was, the conch was not for us. It was kinda’ chewy and crunchy, and icky. We did get conch fritters a few days later and those were yummy.

Big Johns. Yummy food and home of the Friday night dance party. Wade, Theresa, JR, and I hit up the club on Friday night and danced till the wee hours of the morning. Good times.

This was the view from Big John’s as I waited for our lunch to be prepared. A million little fishes swimming around.

This is us at The End of the World Bar. We thought it was our last night in Bimini and we had to go and write our names on the wall of course! Jake and I ended up staying another night, but Summertime Rolled, and Adamant absolutely stuck with their original plan! See what I did there?! Ha!

Here’s where I wrote on the walls. If you ever visit, go to the back room and look at the bottom of the right window. That’s where you’ll find our tag :)

Leo got very comfortable on the docks at Blue Water. He eventually made his way to actual land to munch on some Bahamian grass. More often than not, he jumped on the dock to take an afternoon snooze or to mosey on over to visit his Auntie Theresa and Uncle Wade <3

We visited some friends who moved their boat to the schmancy South Bimini marina. They had an infinity pool. This is a pic of the infinity pool. Can you even tell it’s a pool!?

This is King’s Highway. You’d see cars, trucks, motorcycles, four wheelers, and golf carts. And they all drove on the wrong side of the road!

I couldn’t get over how clear the water was. Here I was standing in about 3 feet of water.

Jake finally busted out the snorkel on our last beach day in Bimini. He saw a couple little sheepsheads and a parrotfish.

Beautiful! I didn’t imagine that pile of conch shells you told me about was that HUGE! Breathtaking pictures!

Love the fried conch too and hated the conch salad!!!!! Great photo’s building your wonderful memories! Happy for you two!

That water looks so inviting! Maybe you could send some of that sun and warm weather to the Great Lakes :)

I read this at about 5:30 this morning. It was about 7 degrees at the time and now we’re waiting with baited breath for another brush with Mother Nature. Without a doubt, you two picked the right winter not to be in the Mid-Atlantic States. A system is supposed to go through tonight/tomorrow and dump more snow on us, but the DC/Baltimore area is supposed to get it worse. Snow is already falling here at 8:30pm, I’ve got the tank gassed and the snow blower ready. You don’t know how much your pictures made me want summer!
