A Dang-Near Perfect Day

So far, most of our days have consisted of waking up early, putting on at least 3 layers of clothes, pulling up the anchor, and motoring down the ICW for, oh…  about 8 hours. By the time we reach our destination for the night, we are beat, make dinner, and crash… early.  The next day, we wake up and do it again!

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean to complain.  We are on a boat, without jobs, heading to the Bahamas for a bunch of months after all!  But  this is what a typical day looked like.  Until yesterday :)

Friday night, we chose an anchorage that was about 12 miles short of St. Augustine, setting ourselves up for an easy day on Saturday.  We woke up when we felt like it, ate breakfast with both hands (not underway!), and, at no particular time, upped the anchor and motored for about 2 hours to our destination.  The weather was BEAUTIFUL and the sky was such a bright blue.

We arrived at about 1 pm to a bustling mooring field and a big old town to explore.  We shared a beer and a tuna sandwich on the bow of our boat, savoring the weather and the view.  Then went to town to play :)

It was a dang-near perfect kinda’ day.

Finally, soaking up the sun!

  1. And here we are in Western MD, 29 degrees with snow – albeit a small flake, dry snow, but the ground is covered and visibility is down to about 1/2 mile. I can’t even see the businesses in LaVale! Winter storm warning until 10AM Monday morning.
    Miss it yet?

  2. The world of cruising! The process of getting there only makes it sweeter. Cruiser’s midnight is about 10:00 PM and get up around or before dawn then you don’t miss any of each day. I heard it was snowing in the Washington area today. Miss it? Dad G. may have to come visit you!
